Concertino for left hand in Aberdeen (UK)!

The rarely performed composition will become the highlight of May 14 concert in Aberdeen's St Machar's Cathedral under conductor Thomas Le Brocq and pianist Paul Murray with the Elphistone Chamber Orchestra.

Alongside Concertino for left hand, H 173, Britten's "Sinfonietta" and the brand new composition by Peter Davis called "Variations of a theme of Beethoven" will also be performed.

Concertino for left hand for piano and orchestra, H 173, was composed by Martinů in 1926. It was the composer who modified its original name "Divertimento" two years later. However, the piece didn't see its world premiere until February 1947 when performed in Prague by the Prague Symphony Orchestra and pianist Otakar Hollman.
