The Bohuslav Martinu Foundation Interpretation Competition

The competition is open only to candidates from the Czech and Slovak Republic, or for foreign candidates studying in Czech Republic.

The interpretation competition has been a part of the annual Bohuslav Martinu Festival since the year 1996.

Young musicians are offered an opportunity to compete in the five following fields:

1) piano
2) string instruments (violin and cello)
3) chamber music (piano trio and a string quartet)
4) wind instruments (clarinet, trumpet, flute)
5) harpsichord

Every annual is focused on one of these categories, except the last two categories, which are implemented together in one year.

The point of the contest is to interpret works by Bohuslav Martinu, emphasizing the historical connections and relationships with Martinu's work and character.
