Czech opera singer Eva Děpoltová sadly passed away

Great Czech opera singer Eva Děpoltová sadly passed away on July 16th at the age of 71. Eva Děpoltová participated in several complete opera recordings of Bohuslav Martinů, such as the Greek Passion (Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, conductor Libor Pešek, with Vilém Přibyl, Jaroslav Horáček, Zdeněk Jankovský, Richard Novák, Naďa Šormová, 1983) and the Plays of the Mary by Bohuslav Martinů (Prague Symphony Orchestra, conductor Jiří Bělohlávek, Marie Mrázová, Jiřina Marková, Václav Zítek, Ivan Kusnjer, 1984) where she sang the role of Pascaline. The Plays of Mary recording has won the award of the Belgian musical press, the Prix Caecilia.

She has been a member of the National Theater’s Opera since 1979. She was a regular guest of concerts of the Czech Philharmonic at home and abroad.
