We invite you to the spring production by the Chamber Opera of JAMU, which will present the comic opera The Marriage at the Divadlo na Orlí. The production is the graduation project of director Eliška Mervartová. The opera is conducted by Kento Satsuma. The set was designed by Martina Kočová and the costumes by Jitka Pohořálková, both students of the Set Design Studio at the JAMU Faculty of Theater. 
 
The Marriage is a comic opera by Bohuslav Martinů from 1952, inspired by the celebrated satire of Nikolai V. Gogol. The Chamber Opera of JAMU brings to life the timeless story of a hesitant bachelor, persistent matchmakers and the social expectations that collide with human fears and uncertainties. The production blends humour with gentle irony and the existential undertones that make Gogol’s work enduringly relevant. Presented in the Czech translation by Eva Bezděková, the performance offers a fresh student perspective on a piece full of musical wit and theatrical energy.
