Czech Philharmonic Piano Trio won Vienna Competition with recording of Bergerettes

Czech Philharmonic Piano Trio won its category of Vienna International Music Competition with the recording of Bergerettes, H 275 by Bohuslav Martinů. Jiří Vodička, Martin Kasík and Vladimír Petr shot the recoding in period style of the thirties. Martinů wrote the piece at the beginning of the year 1939, in the time of uncertainty. He probably never heard the piece performed on stage. The sheet music were found in his estate and first performed by Foerster Trio in 1963, 4 years after the composer’s death. The recording by Czech Philharmonic Piano Trio was created as a memorial of Martinů’s arrival to New York that happened 80 years ago.
