Mezzo‑soprano Jana Hrochová, a leading soloist of the National Theatre in Brno and a distinguished figure of the Czech opera scene, appears in Polička together with pianist Petr Feldmann, an acclaimed chamber musician and sought‑after collaborator of Czech instrumentalists and singers.
The programme offers a rich panorama of Czech vocal music. Janáček’s Moravian Folk Poetry in Songs and his dramatic piano sonata 1.X.1905 open the evening, followed by a selection of Bohuslav Martinů’s songs. Smetana’s lyrical cycle Evening Songs brings a romantic contrast, while the finale presents Martinů’s piano piece Three Czech Dances, H 154, and the emotionally rich New Slovak Songs, H 126.
