Czech Double Reed Ensemble

The Czech Double Reed Ensemble is a newly established ensemble bringing together oboists and bassoonists across generations – from the youngest pupils to professional musicians. It builds on the long‑standing activities of the Czech Double Reed Society and develops its educational and concert mission. The ensemble consists of three sections: Stroječek for the youngest players, the main ensemble Dvouplátek, and the Concert Ensemble, which performs more demanding repertoire and appears at major concerts and festivals.

The programme offers a colourful selection of music ranging from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary works, including arrangements of film music and Czech operatic classics. A highlight of the evening is the Serenade No. 2 for two violins and viola by Bohuslav Martinů in a special arrangement for double‑reed ensemble.
