We are opening the springs

The NeoKlasik Orchestra is preparing a program focusing on the history of the Břevnov Monastery in Prague and its architectural significance, which symbolizes traditions and spiritual roots that trace back to ancient Czech customs and a connection to nature. We will commemorate the 300th anniversary of the construction and completion of the Baroque garden pavilion on the grounds of the Břevnov Monastery from 1723 – 1726, which includes the Vojtěška spring. In connection with this, a symbolic celebratory ceremony in the form of a concert will take place.

In collaboration with the Rokytka Children’s Choir from Počernice, we will perform a semi-staged version of the choral cycle Six Songs from the Spring by Jiří Teml and the famous cantata The Opening of the Springs by Bohuslav Martinů, which was first performed 70 years ago.

With this concert, we wish to highlight the significance of this architectural landmark in Prague 6 and, at the same time, pay tribute to all the wells that have served us for centuries. The program will include a guided tour of the Břevnov Monastery, touching on the history of the Vojtěška Pavilion.
