Martinů Walks Through Prague | Exhibition opening 3. 6.

We invite you to the opening ceremony of an exhibition that explores the life and work of Bohuslav Martinů in connection with Prague, where the young composer studied and worked from 1906 to 1923. The traveling exhibition was organized by the Bohuslav Martinů Institute to mark the 30th anniversary of its founding. Its next stop is the Písek Municipal Library, where it will be on view from June 3 to July 10, 2026.

The exhibition opening will take place on Wednesday, June 3, at 6.00 p.m. Musicologist Lucie Jirglová will discuss the adventurous life story and rich body of work of this 20th-century musical classic in her lecture. The musical program featuring works by B. Martinů will be complemented by performances by Adéla Nováková and Veronika Zadražilová, students of the Písek Music School, with piano accompaniment by David Šarközy. At the conclusion of the opening, pianist Pavel Voráček will speak about the inclusion of Bohuslav Martinů’s works in the program of this year’s 40th South Bohemian Piano Courses, which will take place in Písek from June 27 to July 7.
