Prague Project Choir | A Tribute to Martinů

On Thursday 24 September 2026 at 7.30 pm, the Prague Project Choir’s debut concert, Tribute to Martinů, will take place in the Martinů Hall at the HAMU building on Malostranské náměstí in Prague.

The evening will feature works by Bohuslav Martinů performed by a unique line-up. Alongside the Prague Project Choir, founded and led by Igor Karpilovskij, the programme will also feature leading artists of the younger generation, such as violinist Daniel Matejča, pianist Eliška Tkadlčíková and baritone Radek Martinec.

The concert is held under the patronage of the Faculty of Music and Dance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Admission is free, subject to the hall’s capacity.

The Prague Project Choir (PPS) is a newly formed ensemble which will officially launch its activities with a debut concert on 24 September 2026. Its artistic director and the main driving force behind its creation is choirmaster Igor Karpilovskij, a student of conducting at HAMU in Prague. Antonín Kachlík, who is also a student at HAMU (specialising in music production), has taken on the role of production manager. The choirmaster’s assistant is Magdalena Nová. The PPS’s core of singers comprises experienced and enthusiastic choristers from various corners of the Prague choral scene (and beyond). The aim of the PPS is to bring dramaturgically innovative projects to Prague’s – and, by extension, the Czech Republic’s – musical life, always of the highest artistic quality and in collaboration with other inspiring colleagues, including soloists and instrumentalists.

Following today’s debut concert, this new choral ensemble will present a further four projects during its first season. In November, there will be an a cappella concert featuring works from both older and the very latest choral repertoire. In March 2027, the male voices will first be heard in B. Martinů’s Field Mass as part of Igor Karpilovský’s master’s concert at HAMU, and PPS will then perform again as a mixed choir in collaboration with Vlasta Škampová’s Chamber Orchestra, presenting works by A. Pärt and A. Tučapský. Finally, in May 2027, the PPS will pay tribute to the French composer M. Duruflé on the 40th anniversary of his death, performing, amongst other works, his Requiem.
