Martinů at the Janáček Brno Festival 2026
This year’s Janáček Brno Festival will feature two performances of works by Bohuslav Martinů, thereby highlighting his inspiration from folk culture and his distinctive approach to musical theatre.
On Sunday 18 October 2026, the Brno Children’s Choir will perform a selection from The Chap-Book, H 214, in the Mozart Hall of the Reduta Theatre. Martinů’s work will complement a programme dedicated to Czech choral music inspired by folk poetry and tradition, which will also feature compositions by Luboš Fišer, Miloslav Kabeláč and Leoš Janáček.

A few days later, on 22 October 2026, the Brno Conservatoire will present the premiere of a staged production of Theatre behind the Gate at the Mahen Theatre. The performance will be conducted by Filip Urban, with Hana Mikolášková taking on the role of director.
