Enrico Pieranunzi returns to the Martinů Festtage for the third time, joined by Carlo Bavetta and Mauro Beggio to present his new programme Plays Morricone. The trio combines famous film melodies by Ennio Morricone, including Nuovo Cinema Paradiso and The Ecstasy of Gold, with the art of jazz improvisation.
As a tribute to Bohuslav Martinů the programme also includes pieces from his piano cycle Film en miniature. The concert thus creates a musical link between Martinů and Morricone, bringing together classical composition, film music and jazz improvisation. This connection will be revisited at the festival’s closing concert.
