Jakub Hrůša will make his BBC Proms debut with Martinů

Conductor Jakub Hrůša will make his BBC Proms debut this year at Royal Albert Hall on 26th August with all-Czech programme. BBC Symphony Orchestra will perform a Hussite war song, whose melody will reappear during this evening in a few other pieces which are all full of hope, justice and national pride, for example Smetana’s Tábor and Blaník or Suk’s Praga. The programme also features Bohuslav Martinů’s cantata Field Mass, H 279, composed on the eve of World War II and dedicated to Czechoslovak volunteers on the French frontline.
