New Martinů Revue 2.2017 is out!

The second issue of Martinů Revue (2/2017) was published and as always contains all the latest information, reviews and interviews concerning the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů.

The current issue contains the obituary of conductor Jiří Bělohlávek, the musical guru and music promoter of Martinů’s music in the world, who sadly passed away at the end of May this year at the age of 71. The obituary’s author is Petr Veber, who remembers rich career of Bělohlávek, former chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra or the Czech Philharmonic.

"I'm now on a journey with Bohuslav Martinů." Manfred Honeck

He is also the author of a extensive three-page interview with Manfred Honeck, in which the Austrian conductor speaks mainly about Martinů and his The Epos of Gilgamesh, H 351. The recording of the oratorio, which was recorded at the beginning of the year in conformity with the critical edition from the 1st volume of the Bohuslav Martinů Complete Edition by Honeck together with the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonic Choir and soloists, will be released by Supraphon in autumn.

Next pages, for example, provide information on the latest volume of the BMCE, the cantatas from the Highlands on the texts by Miloslav Bureš, edited by Vít Zouhar. The fourth volume has recently been published by Bärenreiter-Verlag.

The new Martinů Revue also includes, for example, a review by Helena Havlíková on the production of the Greek Passion, H 372 in Olomouc, or an article by Aleš Březina about composer and teacher of Bohuslav Martinů Albert Roussel, who died 80 years ago.
