Prof. Jaroslav Mihule received the Award of the Ministry of Culture

Musicologist Jaroslav Mihule received the prize of the Ministry of Culture for his contribution in the field of music for his lifelong musicological and pedagogical work. As a specialist in the life and work of Bohuslav Martinů, during the period of socialism, he contributed to the promotion and recognition of the work of this composer neglected by the communist regime at home and abroad. Starting with his dissertation, from 1968 he devoted his whole life to the personality of Bohuslav Martinů. He was the initiator of the creation of the Bohuslav Martinů Society; he is a member of many scientific societies, he lectured at American universities in the 1990s. After 1990, he worked as vice-rector of Charles University and ambassador to the Netherlands.
