Conductor Dennis Russell Davies in an interview on OPERA PLUS

Conductor Dennis Russell Davies, a prominent conductor and current music director of the Brno Philharmonic, was a guest on the OPERA PLUS interview with conductor Jan Bubák. During this candid conversation, he not only revealed the reasons for his departure from the American continent but also shared his great inspiration, which he finds in world composers, including one of the most significant Czech music geniuses, Bohuslav Martinů.

Dennis Russell Davies is known for his passion for discovering new musical works and supporting contemporary music. In the interview, he openly spoke about his musical development and the importance of meeting composers and their works. He paid special attention to Bohuslav Martinů, whose music holds a prominent place in Davies' repertoire. In this context, he mentioned the recent performance of the Thunderbolt composition, which he conducted with the Brno Philharmonic at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. He also shared his impressions of this concert, which was a particularly exceptional experience for him. Additionally, he mentioned his recent visit to the Bohuslav Martinů Institute, an important source of information about the life and works of this Czech composer, offering conductors and performers access to unique recordings, scores, and other materials invaluable for studying and interpreting Martinů's music.
