Martinů fest Polička 2026

We invite you to the 29th edition of the traditional Martinů Fest Polička, which will take place from May 15 to 30, 2026, in the composer’s hometown.

RUDOLFINUM CONSORT
Friday 15 May 2026
The opening concert of the 29th edition of the festival brings the Rudolfinum Consort, composed of leading musicians from the Czech Philharmonic, to Polička. The concert will be preceded by a traditional memorial ceremony at the composer’s grave in St. Michael’s Cemetery. A meeting with Jaroslav Mareš, the author of the photography exhibition AMONG PEOPLE, will also take place in the foyer of the main hall of Tyl’s House. More information here.

KALLIOPÉ TRIO PRAGUE
Saturday 16 May 2026
The trio was founded by violinist Markéta Vokáčová, cellist Jan Zemen, and pianist Miroslav Sekera. At their second festival concert, they will perform works by Beethoven, Suk, Halvorsen and Martinů’s Bergerettes. More information here.

JANA HROCHOVÁ AND PETR FELDMANN
Sunday 17 May 2026
Mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová and pianist Petr Feldmann will perform songs and piano works by Janáček, Smetana, and Martinů. The program will feature selections from Martinů’s cycles New Slovak Songs, Songs on a Single Page or Songs on Old Spanish Texts. More information here.

ČAROTAJ

The ensemble features two female voices, a bass clarinet, a bassoon, and a cello, occasionally accompanied by piano. In Polička, they will perform original arrangements of folk songs from the Slovácko and Kopanice regions, as well as works by Bohuslav Martinů from the cycle Songs on Two Pages. CZECH DOUBLE REED ENSEMBLE
Sunday 24 May 2026 
This newly formed ensemble brings together oboe and bassoon players of all ages, from the youngest students to professional musicians. The concert program will feature works by Handel, Smetana, Martinů and Beáta Hlavenková, as well as a selection of film music. More information here.

JAROSLAV SVĚCENÝ AND NATIONAL MENS CHOIR
Saturday 30 May 2026.
The highlight of the festival will be the closing concert, featuring a unique ensemble comprising over 100 singers from men’s choirs across the Czech Republic. The program will showcase the spiritual depth of Smetana’s and Foerster’s choral works, the folk inspiration found in the works of Martinů, Dvořák, and Janáček, and the contemporary style of Zdeněk Lukáš. The evening’s special guest is violinist Jaroslav Svěcený. More information here.
