The new issue of the Martinů Revue is hot off the press! Within its pages, another early Martinů ballet receives attention - this time Istar, H 130, completed 100 years ago this year. We celebrate some notable birthdays (Gregory Terian, Michael Crump, Michael Beckerman) as well as the launch of the latest volume in the Complete Edition, featuring Martinů's last two piano concertos. Cellist Petr Nouzovský looks back on the experience of recording all Martinů's works for his instrument, and we remember the oustanding contribution made by Václav Nosek in promoting some of Martinů's most obscure stage works.→ More
Photo project Martinů in America, part of the Czenglishman in New York exhibition, is available online
The exhibition Czenglishman in New York is open for the whole summer in Czech Center New York. The exhibition was put together by the Center in close cooperation with the Bohuslav Martinů Institute in Prague as part of the program cycle 2021: The Year of Martinů in America. It captures an important American period in the composer’s life (from 1941 to 1953 and briefly in 1956). An integral part of the exhibition is a special photo project entitled Martinů in America, put together by New York-based Czech photographer Kateřina Dvořáková Manková in the Spring of 2021. The Bohuslav Martinů Complete Edition – an ambitious project of the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation, prepared by the Bohuslav Martinů Institute and published by Bärenreiter – continues its successful run with the tenth volume, the opera Ariadne. The launch of the publication was celebrated at Nové Hrady Castle on 30 June, in anticipation of the pre-premiere of Thrice Ariadne, a performance that encompasses three musical settings of the ancient myth, by Monteverdi, Benda, and – of course – Martinů.→ More
Harry Halbreich passed away five years ago
Five years ago, on 27 June 2016, the eminent Belgian expert on Czech music, musicologist Harry Halbreich, passed away after a long and difficult illness. He created the Bohuslav Martinů catalogue, comparable to the Köchel catalogue of W. A. Mozart's works. The catalogue was published in its second version in 2007 and became a synonym for reseach in Bohuslav Martinů's works across the entire world.→ More

Opera performance students of Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno performed two one-act operas by Bohuslav Martinů.
